full circle

"There are some changes coming in my life. I can feel them already. My tarot reading yesterday, by my mother over a toke and a glass of red wine, coincided with the first day of spring. My boyfriend commented cynically as I described its revelations in brief; "It sounds like it just tells you things you already know." And yes… yes, it does. But there is something eerie and scintillating about plying chance and finding it synchronous with what you "already know." They say that our brain makes decisions long before we ever consciously reach them, and it doesn’t surprise me. Most of what I’ve come to discover has felt more like an unlocking, a reminder, even like a swift round kick in the ass from myself at times for not re-cognising it sooner."

I’m doing it again

write (a rather one-sided discussion)

If you forget everything else - especially when you forget everything else:

Write it, or you will forget it.
Nothing "isn’t worth writing down." Even nothing is worth writing down.
Write without thinking.
Keep thinking once you’ve stopped writing.
Write every day.
Yes, even if you have nothing to write about.
Even if you hate the concept you’re working on.
Even if you can’t stand your characters.
Even if you don’t believe a line of it.
Even if this is the twelfth time you’ve used that word.
Well someone, somewhere has a writing utensil.
Receipts work just fine.
Then write more.
Sure it reads like shit. It’ll inspire the hell out of you later.

the best article of clothing ever

Socks don’t get very much attention.

Sure there are a good number of people out there with sock fetishes. But that’s a different kind of attention. I’m talking a true appreciation. The kind that so many girls nowadays have for a cute, comfy pair of shoes, wherein socks are not always such an element of necessity.

And there’s so much to be loved! There are many varieties of socks - toe socks, tabi socks, ankle-socks and half-socks; thigh-highs, knee-highs, tube socks and long socks that scrunch. There are ones with stripes, spots, swirls, tie-dye, and just plain solid colours. They can be made out of anything from nylon to cotton to wool or even angora (mmm), not to mention that impossibly soft fluffy stuff that makes your feet feel like you just put clouds on them. And you can never own too many.
Plus, they are surprisingly versatile. A pair of socks with a hole in them gets a good washing, a snip at the foot, and you’ve got a new pair of arm-warmers (a la Kagerou, for those of you that have read it!). Not to mention that with all the different kind of socks that exist, they are a great way of expressing yourself. Sometimes just knowing that you’ve got a rad pair of socks on under a mundane pair of work pants can brighten your day.

At any rate, one’s feet should be treated with great kindness and respect. After all, one does walk on them all day. Heck, even if you don’t, all you people in wheelchairs and such might just as well dress up those feet of yours too, so they don’t get bored. So why not put a little thought into your socks?

Socks generally get the “you don’t know what you got ’till it’s gone” kind of love. The kind where you wake up one morning, realize you haven’t done any laundry for a bit, and you don’t have any socks left — or that there’s only one of your best pair, because the sock gnomes behind the dryer made away in the night with the other some time last week.

But there are a few people who know their socks, and here are some of them. Replete with accessories and items that are merely sock-related, they not only keep a unique and vibrant array of socks available (I found things here that I had been seeking for a long time, and which could not be found anywhere else), but they also have a little bit of more specific info on each kind, because they check each style out personally when a new kind comes in. They are also very reasonably priced for such high-quality socks. You’ll spend forever just browsing around before you can pick your favourite and get it! Beyond that, they even keep a sock journal, with news, reviews, pictures and other tidbits that updates pretty regularly. If you love socks, check these girls out.

Perhaps this all sounds like a bunch of pointless drivel to you. But maybe tomorrow you’ll take a closer look at your sock drawer. Who knows?

a point for everything

Never stop doing something that truly makes you happy. Even if the spread of the happiness seems intangible, someday it will be stumbled upon and appreciated for what it is, and that’s the whole point.

Shadows of a doubt

What I originally intended to note was this:

I have come to the conclusion that there can be no such thing as an explicit implication.

Making the simple complex

Yesterday I came to log into Karma, and none of my passwords would work! No matter how many times I reset it and attempted to log in, not a-one of them would go through. I tried all my passwords, reset it, reset it again, and even posted on the forum.
Then I was informed, in a stroke of simple genius, that I may have capitalized something I shouldn’t have.
…turned out it was my user name.
I think this happens a lot, in general. We forget to check for the really simple causes to problems - to take care of the small things before we get to the big solutions too fast; instead we take for granted that we would have noticed something that obvious. I’m going to try to pay more attention to that.

No complaints

When I’m sick, and I think about coffee, it makes me feel sicker, almost like I can think the smell. Thinking of water makes me feel emptier, until I drink some; then it makes me feel okay for a few minutes but I end up feeling ‘bland’ afterward. If you’re nauseous though, find some nux vomica at an herbalist store or something. It works incredibly well.
No matter which way I open a wilcox yogurt, it always squirts little yogurt droplets in the direction the opening faces. Making a mess is unavoidable - and it’s kind of phallic. I wonder what process they use to seal those things…

Hello world!

I’m going to leave the title exactly as it is, because I think it’s the perfect start to this journal.
This is where I’m going to collect those wispy little thoughts that flit through my mind from time to time… things that I love, good things happening, or minor epiphanies.
We complain too often! There will be none of that here.
Today, something wonderful happened for us, and it proved what I have been living by ever since my father died. It’s what he always said, and it’s true even when it seems like it could never be - as long as you remember it:
“Everything will work out just fine! You’ll see.”
